Moms in the Middle
Moms in the Middle is a new program designed to assist our Haut Gap mothers (and any fathers, too) in meeting the unique challenges of raising middle schoolers. Carolyn Ray, our newest counselor at HGMS, will be leading these conveniently timed meetings on Friday mornings from 8:00-8:40 beginning on January 27. Parenting issues and concerns will be explored and discussed in a brief presentation by Mrs. Ray each week. The presentation will be followed by an open discussion to include specific strategies, plans, and tips in order to foster a more harmonious relationship with our middle schoolers through positive and effective parenting skills and approaches. For more information please contact Carolyn Ray.
Haute Cuisine Comes to School
The cooking shows have nothing on us! Twice monthly, students at Haup Gap will be formally invited to attend a luncheon held in their honor. Recipients will be treated to a different meal each month, often specializing in foods that are representative of various cultures or relating to particular traditions.
Eight students from 5/6th grade and eight from 7/8th will be selected based on exemplary or improved academic work or behavior. This offers us an opportunity to recognize students that are consistently demonstrating PRIDE.
The luncheon will highlight the students’ success, offer conversation about the foods being served and teach manners and protocol. This is a perfect opportunity for students to come together to celebrate their success while enjoying a special luncheon prepared in their honor.
Sponsored by Sherri Houston and Carolyn Ray, Haute Cuisine is yet another way that we applaud the exceptional performance of our students. Parents will receive positive phone calls when their child participates , making this a special event for each honoree!
